Two Local Government Office Employees Arrested in Bahawalnagar for Allegedly Accepting Bribe

BAHAWALNAGAR (Report: Aamir Sohail): The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Bahawalnagar has arrested two employees of the Deputy Director Local Government Office after they were allegedly caught red-handed accepting a Rs20,000 bribeduring a raid conducted under judicial supervision.

According to an Anti-Corruption spokesperson, the operation was initiated following a complaint filed by Razia Bashir, wife of Mushtaq Ali and a resident of Adda Gajiyani, Bahawalnagar. The complainant alleged that the officials had demanded a bribe in exchange for performing an official duty.

After obtaining prior permission from the court, a raid was conducted under the supervision of Judicial Magistrate Section 30 Azhar Javed. The operation was led by Circle Officer Malik Muhammad Akram Zaki along with the Anti-Corruption team. During the raid, the two employees were allegedly caught while receiving Rs20,000 in bribe money.

ACE officials stated that a case has been registered against the accused under the relevant anti-corruption laws, and further legal proceedings are underway.

The Anti-Corruption Establishment reaffirmed its commitment to taking indiscriminate action against corruption and bribery in public institutions, emphasizing that strict enforcement is essential to ensure transparent, merit-based and citizen-focused public service delivery.
