Over Rs 60.93 Million in Cheques Distributed Among Retired Employees of New Karachi Town

KARACHI: Under the leadership of New Karachi Town Chairman Muhammad Yousuf, the town administration has taken another welfare-oriented initiative by distributing cheques worth more than Rs60.93 million among retired officers and employees as leave encashment, as well as financial assistance to the families of deceased employees.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Muhammad Yousuf said the New Karachi Town administration was ensuring the timely payment of dues to employees retiring each month. In the past, retired employees had to wait for several years to receive their outstanding dues. However, after assuming charge of the town’s affairs, the administration reviewed the problems faced by retired employees, issued necessary directions to the relevant department and accelerated the process of clearing their dues.

He said that alongside development works, the welfare of employees and timely payment of their retirement benefits remained among the top priorities of the town administration. He added that the opportunity provided by Allah Almighty to serve the public and employees was being fulfilled with honesty and dedication.

Chairman Muhammad Yousuf also appealed to the Sindh government to provide a special grant to New Karachi Town so that the outstanding dues of employees who had been waiting for payments for several years could also be cleared.

He said the town administration had established a dedicated Welfare Department to facilitate retired employees. The department has so far forwarded pension files of more than 150 employees to the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), while pensions of 125 retired employees have already been restored. Efforts are underway to ensure the early restoration of pensions for the remaining retired employees as well.

On the occasion, retired employees appreciated the welfare initiatives taken by Chairman Muhammad Yousuf and termed the policy of ensuring timely payment of employees’ dues a positive and commendable example in the local government system.
