Rs3.22bn Budget Approved for Punjab Local Government Board

LAHORE: The Local Government and Community Development (LG&CD) Department has approved an annual budget of Rs3.22 billion for the Punjab Local Government Board for the fiscal year 2026-27.

Under the approved budget, salaries of employees in BS-1 to BS-22 have been increased by 7% in accordance with the Revised Pay Scales 2026 and Ad-hoc Relief Allowance 2026. A 3.5% increase in pensions of retired employees has also been approved.

The decisions were taken at a meeting chaired by LG&CD Secretary Zaid Bin Maqsood, which reviewed financial and administrative affairs, issues concerning Local Government Service employees and progress on recruitment.

Punjab Local Government Board Secretary Ahmer Sohail Kaifi briefed the meeting on administrative and service-related matters, while Finance Director Abdul Ghaffar Vaince presented the annual budget for 2026-27.

The meeting allocated Rs1.5 billion for pension payments, Rs753 million for employees’ salaries and Rs60 million for families of deceased employees.

Officials informed the meeting that the recruitment process for 271 Local Government Service employees had been completed.
