Daanish School Chishtian student leaves campus without permission

CHISHTIAN: An inquiry has been sought into the reported incident of a ninth-grade boarding student allegedly leaving the Daanish School Chishtian campus without permission on August 26, raising questions about the school’s security arrangements and supervision of hostel students.

The student, Abdul Malik, is reported to have left the school through the main gate at around 2pm on August 26 without authorised permission. His mother, Nabeela Noorain, has submitted an application to the Managing Director of the Punjab Daanish Schools and Centres of Excellence Authority, seeking a detailed investigation into the incident and identification of those responsible.

According to the application, Abdul Malik is a boarding student residing in the school hostel. His family has questioned how he was able to leave the school premises without formal permission or adequate supervision, despite the security arrangements in place at the institution.

The application also raises concerns about the alleged availability of unauthorised stamps among some hostel students, which could potentially be used to prepare gate passes. The family has called for all stamps kept in the hostel and gate passes issued to students to be examined to determine whether any student was able to leave the campus through an unauthorised process.

The family has also requested that CCTV footage from the main gate covering the afternoon of August 26 be preserved and reviewed as part of the investigation. They have sought examination of the main gate movement register, student gate passes and hostel attendance records to establish what happened and how the student was able to leave the premises.

The application calls for the roles of Hostel In-charge Muhammad Shakeel, the principal, house in-charge, warden, security guards and other relevant staff to be examined. The family wants the inquiry to establish who was responsible for security at the time of the incident, how the student passed through the main gate and whether any lapse in supervision or violation of school rules occurred.

According to the application, Abdul Malik belongs to Mandi Sadiq Ganj and his mother is a widow. The family said parents send their children to boarding schools with the expectation that the institutions will take responsibility not only for their education but also for their safety and day-to-day supervision.

The family has therefore urged the Daanish Schools Authority to conduct an impartial investigation, review all available records and CCTV footage, and take action under the relevant rules if negligence or violation of procedures is established.

They have also called for a comprehensive review of the hostel and main-gate security arrangements at Daanish School Chishtian to ensure that no student is able to leave the campus without proper authorisation in the future.
