KP Chief Minister Lays Foundation Stone for Rs2.5bn Jameel Chowk Underpass

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi has laid the foundation stone for the Jameel Chowk Underpass under the Peshawar Revitalisation Plan.

The project has been estimated to cost Rs2.5 billion and has been given a target completion period of 60 days.

Provincial Minister for Local Government and Higher Education Meena Khan Afridi, Special Assistant Muhammad Usman Betani, MPA Fazal Elahi, MNA Asif Khan, senior government officials, party leaders, workers and a large number of citizens attended the foundation-laying ceremony.

According to officials, the Jameel Chowk Underpass will be a modern six-lane underpass designed to improve traffic movement at the busy intersection and make commuting easier for residents.

Once completed, the underpass is expected to improve traffic flow, reduce delays and provide a faster and safer route for motorists travelling through the area.

The project is being developed as part of the broader Peshawar Revitalisation Plan, which aims to improve the city’s infrastructure, traffic management and overall urban environment.

The provincial government said the initiative is part of efforts to develop a more modern, organised and citizen-friendly Peshawar through improvements to key road infrastructure and urban facilities.
