Bahawalpur Commissioner Inaugurates Beautification Project in Chishtian Markets

CHISHTIAN: Bahawalpur Division Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia has inaugurated a beautification project for the central markets of Chishtian, aimed at improving the appearance, cleanliness and civic facilities in the city’s main commercial areas.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the commissioner said the primary purpose of development projects was to provide better civic facilities to residents. He directed the departments concerned to ensure timely completion of the project while maintaining quality and improving the overall appearance of the markets.

He also instructed officials to pay particular attention to cleanliness, traffic management and other basic facilities so that shoppers, residents and traders could have a better environment.

The commissioner said the Punjab government was undertaking various initiatives across the province to improve public facilities, beautify markets and enhance the overall urban environment. He also highlighted the provincial government’s efforts, under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision, to improve facilities for citizens and develop better public spaces.

Deputy Commissioner Bahawalnagar Syed Muhammad Abbas Shah said the relevant departments were actively working to improve civic facilities across the district and ensure implementation of government development projects. He said the beautification of Chishtian’s central markets was an important part of these efforts and would provide a better environment for residents and traders.

Earlier, Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia inaugurated the beautification project at Main Bazaar, Rail Bazaar and Chaman Bazaar in Chishtian.

Regional Police Officer Bahawalpur Division Ghazi Salahuddin, MNA and Parliamentary Secretary Ehsan-ul-Haq Bajwa, Deputy Commissioner Bahawalnagar Syed Muhammad Abbas Shah, District Police Officer Muhammad Imran, the Assistant Commissioner Chishtian and other relevant officials attended the ceremony.

Officials briefed the commissioner on the market development project, ongoing and proposed works and facilities being provided to citizens. The commissioner reviewed the progress and directed the authorities to focus not only on beautification but also on cleanliness, traffic arrangements and other administrative matters.

He said effective implementation of the project should ultimately provide a cleaner, more organised and convenient environment for both citizens and traders.
