Mayor Murtaza Wahab Inaugurates Rs412 Million Manghopir Road Dual Carriageway

KARACHI: Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab has inaugurated a modern dual carriageway from Khawaja Ajmer Nagri Chowrangi to the Dadex Factory on Manghopir Road, describing the project as a major milestone in improving Karachi’s transport connectivity and civic infrastructure. Built at a cost of over Rs412 million, the 1.8-kilometre road features dual carriageways measuring 10.25 metres on each side, along with curb blocks, a modern central median, road markings, an efficient drainage system, and other civic amenities. Addressing the inauguration ceremony, the mayor said the project would significantly improve traffic flow while providing commuters with a safer and more comfortable travel experience. He noted that despite repeated promises by successive governments, no proper road had previously been constructed in the area, adding that the long-standing demand of Manghopir residents had finally been fulfilled. He also announced the completion of a Rs86.895 million rehabilitation project for a 700-metre-long, 48-inch water supply pipeline. According to officials, the scheme included the installation of 16 T-connections, repairs to around 4,000 leakages, the removal of 2,400 illegal water connections, and the laying of new four-inch water supply lines across 54 streets. In addition, 53 double-arm street lights were installed, sewerage drains were desilted, and drainage arrangements were upgraded to further improve municipal services in the area.
