Nawaz Sharif Appointed Chairman of Lahore Heritage Area Revival Board

LAHORE: Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been appointed as the Chairman of the Lahore Heritage Area Revival Board, marking a significant step towards the preservation and restoration of the city’s historical and cultural landmarks.

The appointment was approved by the Governor of Punjab in Nawaz Sharif’s capacity as a Member of the National Assembly (MNA). The Secretary of the Local Government Department, Punjab, has also issued the official gazette notification confirming the constitution of the board.

The Lahore Heritage Area Revival Board has been established to protect, restore, and revitalize Lahore’s rich historical and cultural heritage. Its mandate includes conserving centuries-old buildings, historic markets, archaeological sites, religious and cultural landmarks, traditional architecture, and other heritage assets that define the city’s identity.

Heritage refers to the historical, cultural, and civilizational legacy passed down through generations. Through the board, the Punjab government aims to ensure the sustainable preservation, beautification, and management of Lahore’s heritage areas while safeguarding the city’s unique historical character for future generations.
