Gulberg Town Inaugurates Road Side Jungle Phase Two to Promote Green Urban Development

Karachi: Deputy Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi and Opposition Leader in the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), Saifuddin Advocate, has praised the Gulberg Town Municipal Corporation for delivering development projects despite limited financial resources, describing the town as a model of efficient local governance.

He expressed these views while inaugurating “Road Side Jungle Phase Two” on Rashid Minhas Road, a green initiative launched by Gulberg Town to improve Karachi’s urban environment. The ceremony was also attended by Jamaat-e-Islami Central District Gulberg Ameer Kamran Siraj, Gulberg Town Chairman Nusratullah, Director Parks Nadeem Hanif, and other officials.

Saifuddin Advocate said the progress made in schools, roads, street lighting, and environmental projects demonstrates that transparent leadership and effective planning can deliver meaningful public services even with limited resources. He described the Road Side Jungle project as an innovative model that other towns in Karachi should replicate.

Highlighting Karachi’s growing environmental challenges, he said the city is rapidly turning into a concrete jungle, making tree plantation, expansion of green spaces, rainwater harvesting, and climate-resilient urban planning essential for improving residents’ quality of life.

He added that if local governments receive adequate financial support from the provincial government, the nine Jamaat-e-Islami-administered towns in Karachi could be transformed into model municipalities.

Speaking at the ceremony, Kamran Siraj said the Road Side Jungle Phase Two project reflects Gulberg Town’s commitment to transparency, environmental protection, and public welfare. Chairman Nusratullah stressed that both local governments and citizens must work together to make Karachi a greener, cleaner, and more livable city.
