Government School Teachers More Qualified Than Private Sector Counterparts, Reveals Gallup Survey
ISLAMABAD – Teachers in government schools across Pakistan hold significantly higher academic and professional qualifications compared to their counterparts in the private sector, according to an analysis released by Gallup Pakistan on Wednesday.
The national data study on teachers at both rural and urban levels, compiled by the Institute of Education and Awareness, reveals that advanced postgraduate degrees and formal teaching training are largely concentrated within the public education system.
The structural gap between the two sectors is most evident in higher educational achievements. More than half of government school teachers — 52.4 percent — hold a Master’s degree or higher, while only 39.1 percent of private school teachers have reached this level of education. In contrast, private schools rely more heavily on teachers with intermediate and primary-level qualifications.
